MISSION AND HISTORY

 

CENTRAL JERSEY TECHNICAL RESCUE TEAM is a not-for-profit Search & Rescue Team dedicated to the promotion of professional knowledge in fields related to search and rescue. CJTRT is comprised of 28 non-paid professionals interested in all aspects of search and rescue - the humanitarian cause of saving lives - throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York. Mission Statement

Our mission is the enhancement of Search And Rescue emergency response and the promotion of outdoor safety for New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.

Vision Statement

An effective and efficient organization that proudly supports the Search And Rescue community.

 

1. COMMUNICATION

To promote communication and cooperation among all types of Search And Rescue teams in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York or where ever we may respond.

2. STANDARDS

To establish, adopt and/or implement standards for Search And Rescue emergency response.

3. TRAINING

To facilitate training to meet or exceed the Standards.

4. EDUCATION

To further the education of the Search And Rescue community; inform the public about Search And Rescue and outdoor safety.

5. ADMINISTRATION

To manage the tasks, information and assets required to support Search And Rescue in accomplishing it's other goals.

 

1992
Oct 1992: created “Team Tech: Specialized Tactical Rescue Team” started with 6 members.
1993
Incorporated in NJ as non profit, registered with IRS and NJ division of Taxation as non profit.
1994
Become organizational members of National Association for Search and Rescue.
1994
Signed agreement with CenCom to provide dispatching services for team.
1995
Become members of NJ State First Aid Council, 2nd District.
1996
Expanded our role to include SAR along with technical rescue.
1997
Team grows to 10 members, become fully insured.
1998
The Search and Rescue Council of NJ (SARCNJ) is born, with our team as charter members.

1998

Added to the Union County Office of Emergency Management’s resource list.
1999
Received a donated vehicle that is being utilized as our primary response vehicle.
2001
Members have additional training and certification in Ground SAR by New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
2002
Team Leaders have completed Managing Search Operations course (DCNR-PA).
2002
Member of Pennsylvania Search and Rescue Council (PSARC).
2002
Six members qualified as Field Team Members (FTM), two as Field Team Leaders (FTL), and ten certified as SARTECH III by NASAR.
2003
Our second emergency response vehicle comes online as a first response vehicle.
2003
Twelve members certified as SARTECH II by NASAR, including 3 as SARTECH II Evaluators.
2006
CJTRT has grown to twenty-nine members certified as SARTECH II or SARTECH III by NASAR, including 4 as SARTECH II Evaluators.
